Thought easiest way to explain my experience is to share the 'bot' chat experience I was forced into to return the player. I've a load of old demo tapes I wanted to convert to mp3 - could not get this to work. This thing caused me perhaps the most frustrating hour and a half I've had in a very long time. The software (a version of Audacity) kept crashing, when it would bother to sense the device at all. I had to restart the computer between every other attempt to get it to even try to work. The most I got was 5 minutes before crashing; usually it would either not sense the device, or crash after 20-30 seconds. This is an impossible situation in terms of trying to record and preserve lots of cassette tapes.So, no. Amazon refunded the money right away; there was no fuss. Perhaps this is a known product with known issues. But unfortunately, even with downloading the latest version of Audacity from the web site, things wouldn't work right - in fact, the crashes became faster, and the restarts were required after every attempt.As others have noted, the construction is rather flimsy, and it looks like it is lightweight, cheap material. That wouldn't bother me if the thing actually worked with my computer (Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6). But if it won't keep a stable connection through recording even one tape (and we didn't even get one-third of that), there's no use for this thing. Oh well.Save your money. Find another device. DO NOT BUY THIS ONE!

Worked for converting tapes to electronic media but after three weeks, the FF feature failed to work. It has worked adequately and I can live without FF.

They both worked fine for a while but then gave up the ship neither work now

First, I noticed that many of the reviews under this device were not actually for this device. I notified Amazon and they said they would look into the matter. As for the cassette to mp3 device itself, it might be the most disappointing purchase I've made on Amazon--surely not Amazon's fault, though. The device is very flimsy and built using what must certainly be the cheapest, poorly made components available. I would have gladly paid three times the price if it was made with materials of much better quality. Does it work? No. I have made several strong efforts to convert my cassettes to mp3 files. There is some functionality, but the process has not yet led to a successful completion. The software included is part--perhaps most--of the problem. It is one of the most difficult interfaces I've seen in sound conversion applications. You will need to download additional plugins to actually achieve functioning mp3 output. It seems silly to me that a device advertised to convert cassette to mp3 requires additional software to actually convert to mp3. I did manage to download what I needed, but not because the included software made it easy. But even still, I cannot complete a project from start to finish with the smallest measure of satisfaction.
