I Am SOLD!!!
I am sold!Logically you would think five blade edges would do a better job than a single edge. Nope. I had a high-end five blade razor with refills that cost $4.50 each. These would last me about 15 shaves and there was always some stubble no matter how many times I passed over a spot. I purposely let my beard grow out for a few days and this morning as soon as this razor arrived I shaved. I went with the grain once and then against the grain once. Absolutely no stubble. I could change the blade every time I shave and it would still be cheaper and still give me a closer shave. Who would have thought? For me, multiple blades are just hype that don't work. Double edge blades for me! In fact the razor is cheap enough that I bought a second one to keep in my suitcase for when I travel.

A Real Razor
This Wilkinson Sword razor gives me the best shave I can remember since the 1970's when I used a similar type. I have put up with disposable razors uncomfortably pulling and cutting below the pore openings, which causes sores when the sharp beard ends grow back out and dig in. This day is May 19, I received and started using the razor April 23 and have used the same side of the first blade with the sword marking since May 19 and it still shaves with far less discomfort than those plastic things that pull and tug from the start. You need to be a little careful with it, it can make nicks if careless. I hold the handle near the top ad let it's own weight deliver the best pressure, which is not much. The finished shave is surprisingly smooth. I will stick with Wilkinson blades.I can say yes I like it. I'll never go back to plastic unless I have to.

You have to wrap handle with a rubber band
Very good safety razor but the handle is slippery . You have to wrap a rubber band on the handle and you get a great hold and better control of the safety razor!

Affordable, Decent Quality, Beginner Friendly
Price for this butterfly de razor is reasonable. Very beginner friendly, easy to replace blades. Provides a good mild shave. Doing the basic 3 pass shave gets you nice and smooth. Blade recommendations I would go with what everyone else says either Astras(better price) or Feather(said to be sharper but I found them about the same). I’ve seen bad reviews saying that the handle or the blades rust after leaving the blade in for a while. I might be odd but I try to take care of things I buy regardless of the price I pay for them. After I finish my shave I rinse the razor and wipe off the blade and razor with my shave towel. If you aren’t a slob who leaves your razor looking like a barbershop floor then this will last you a good while. So long as you aren’t throwing it at walls.. If you are looking at starting de razor shaving this is my first pick. Once you feel confident and wish to give a more aggressive shave a try there are many choices on here. If you are hellbent on getting a 3 piece de razor, Muhle has a Neo that is very affordable at $30. Don’t forget the pre shave ritual, that way you have an awesome shave every time. Warm towel(or just warm water to soften the beard), your shaving lather makes a huge difference, remember if your blade starts to tug after you have softened up the hair it is time to change the blade. Best thing about de razors is how cheap the blades are. If you go for astras you can switch out the blade every shave for about 7 cents(usually last me 2-3 shaves, depends on hair thickness). Get the angle down, go slow, you will not regret it. Ditch the cartridge razor, the cuts are not worth it, after switching I haven’t had any nicks. Hope you give this one a try.

Wanted to like this razor, ended up irritating my face
I bought this razor for myself to try out a variety of the twist-to-open variety of double edge razors. I currently own the Merkur 34c, Muhle R41, and a couple others from Amazon as well. When I saw this twist-to-open variation by Gillette, especially the Wilkin Sword line being reputable, I decided to give it a try. Let's get to the good parts of the razor first. The handle is heavy and weighted, which feels solid to hold and the saying "let the weight of the razor" do the work will definitely apply here. The twist to open is satisfying and loading blades in is an easy task to do here with this razor. On top of that, when I was shaving, I didn't experience any clogging with this razor which is great. Now moving on to the NOT so great parts... I'm not sure what it is, but this is definitely not a razor I would recommend to beginners, or anyone with sensitive skin really. Keep in mind that I shave with the R41 and 34c just fine, with blades ranging from Astra SP's, Personna Blues, Nacets, etc. However, no matter what blade I load on this razor (including the three I've mentioned), the razor gives me a scraping feel on my face, without the slightest bit of pressure added. I definitely feel a lot of the "blade feel" and it just feels like I'm scraping my skin with this razor. Not sure if it's the blade exposure angle, or perhaps the doors that hold the razor blade isn't sturdy enough causing some flex; but it definitely is not a good feeling. Post-shave, I apply my alum block and can definitely feel stinging; way more than how I'd feel using my other razors (and that's usually little or close to none). A couple minutes after the shave, I also start getting bumps on my face, which never happened again with any other razors. Overall, I would definitely skip this razor. Also want to add as well that the Wilkinson Sword blades that it came with performed the worst out of the other three I've used. Definitely a skip for me, but good for those who make it work, especially for the price.
