Can I measure DC current with the clamp?
is it auto ranging for measuring amp?
can someone please let me know if there is a user manual for this unit, or a link? mine arrived with a manual, but in chinese. thank you.
Description says: "batteries included: no. batteries required: no." is this a misprint? or is there an ac adapter option?

DC current detection

I purchased this item to detect current in LED lighting on my boat as one of my courtesy lights wasn't working. Wasn't sure if it was the light or wiring. The I have to pry the light out as it was siliconed in and before doing that, I wanted to be sure it was the light and not the wiring to it. The wiring was accessible thru a removable panel in the t top. The current was detected with this so its the light!

A Nice Compact DMM!

I had to return a previous DMM because it did not seem to read current using the clamp, nor did it shut off automatically (its claim). It also reverted to a different function than you were using after a couple of minutes, very annoying. So far, I can say that this Uni-T UT210E does not suffer from these inadequacies. The first thing I noticed was the small size of the meter. When opening the box, I was thinking it wasn't coming with a carry case due to the small size, but it does. The meter is just about half the size I expected, but I prefer this because I often have to make away calls and this takes up such little space in my toolbox. I also like the fact that the probes plug into the end rather than on top of the meter. The auto-ranging scales will be useful to those not as much acquainted with the use of a DMM.If there is any gripe to be made about this meter, some might point out that it doesn't come with batteries. It requires two AAA, but a lot of included batteries are just cheap carbon batteries anyway and you should invest in some good alkaline batteries for a meter. The last thing you want are dead batteries leaking acid into your DMM.The default mode of the meter is reading AC. Since most of my work involves DC, that would have been my preference, but it's just one press of a button and, AC use probably being more common, this kind of makes sense. Again, I cannot deduct a star for this.[Edit] I originally thought the probe tips were too short. They emerge only about 1/8" from the plastic. I later discovered that there are removable plastic covers that you pull off to expose the rest of the probe tip. Wish this had been in the manual, but great!I hope this review is helpful to those in search for an affordable clamp meter. Every do-it-yourselfer should own a DMM.

Seems like a good quality meter.

Good quality, and bought it to measure DC Amps inline with load. Other functions work great too. Seems accurate for all I do.

Works great as a current clamp and Can be used as DMM (although I don't suggest it as your go to meter)

So I purchased this meter because I wanted a stand alone clamp meter and one that could also measure DC current. For the price I just couldn't pass it up! Although I mainly use these to measure current and not much else I have used all the other functions at one time or another and they all function as they should without much issue. The only problems I've ever really had is sometimes the auto ranging function when measuring voltage would sometimes hang up and I'd have to remove the leads from whatever source I was measure then reapply and that would normally do the trick. The leads it comes with are fairly decent and I do like the fact that the tip have sheathes on them so if you're measuring something with the 2 contacts quite close to each other the sheathes leave just the very tip of the leads exposed so that you are less likely to make the two tips contact each other and possibly short out whatever device you are working with. The one main issue I have with the meter , which is more of an annoyance, is that the back light does not stay on for long at all!! When working under a vehicles dash for example where there isn't much for ambient light, the back-lit display comes in very handy. Where it becomes aggravating is when you are in that dimly lit space and you have to set the leads down to grab the meter and hold down the button that turns the back light on, then pick the leads back up and get them positioned to whatever two points you are measuring and once you get the leads connected right where you want them you look back down at the meter to see what's on the display and what do you know, the back light has turned itself back off!! That's when I bust out my trustly Fluke 87V and turn the back light on (and it continues to stay on) and leave the Uni-T UT210E to being used mainly as a current clamp and a DMM when your go-to meter just isn't around.

surprised at how accurate it is in DC clamped milliamps

I got this because I have an intermittent parasitic draw on 2005 Pacifica. I couldn't use my non-clamp meter to check the problem because, when I disconnected the negative battery cable, the parasitic draw would go away and connecting the meter leads would reveal nothing wrong. So I got this clamp meter so I could just clamp around the negative battery cable with engine either running or stopped. As with all other clamp meters, you have to rotate the clamp meter to the position it's going to be clamped at, hit zero button and clamp it on at that same orientation. This is to cancel out the Hall Effect on the meter due to the earth's magnetic field. However, when laying the meter down and rotating it, even in low 2 amp setting, I saw very little of the Hall Effect on this meter. There are a couple of things they could improve on with this meter. It seems to go into sleep mode pretty quick. Seems like about 5 minutes when it should be about 15, in my opinion. I would clamp it around the negative cable and wait for the computer and systems in the Pacifica to go to sleep but sometimes the meter would go to sleep first. When I would wake the meter back up by pressing any button, it would lose the zero I'd put in and also switch to A/C. I'd have to select DC again, orient the meter again, zero it and clamp it on again. I haven't tested the accuracy of the amps using the clamp yet but it seems pretty close. For about 34 dollars, I think this is an amazing meter and one of my best purchases.Feb 2019 note: Took Pacifica starter off and AutoZone bench tested it. They said there was a spark when they hooked the leads up to it. After replacing the starter, my intermittent parasitic battery drain problem was gone and never occurred again.
