It’s the coffin they carry you off in, as the saying goes. I ordered this for my dads funeral as he’d always said he’d break with ‘tradition’ and have a cardboard coffin. I did my own funeral arrangements, dealt with everything without a funeral director, yes everything. I spent around £1700 & it was a brilliant celebration that would have cost almost 4K with a director. So it was very easy to order, and as you can see by the photo, we did it up a bit- although that isn’t necessary as the coffin is good thick cardboard, nicely patterned with a fresh pine look print and lovely rustic rope handles. It came with brass lid screws & a stick on cardboard nameplate that you can customise. It was much admired by the mortuary & crematorium staff who said they wished everyone would have one for energy saving and environmental reasons. Even funeral attendees were impressed with it. There’s a cream lining in cotton and a covered ‘cushion’ box for the head. No regrets about buying this quality coffin. I couldn’t have done my dads diy funeral without it.

No complaints from my grand dad

For those looking for a low carbon footprint coffin, this is absolutely top banana. Good use of recycled materials and 100% biodegradable. However will have to take their word on that as I am not allowed to dig it up to check. The only downside is the small internal dimensions. Wishes I checked before purchasing as Granddad was a full six footer. However with some creative packing with the Undertaker we managed to squeeze him in. He wasn’t in it for too long as we opted for cremation.
