Finally, math she enjoys!
Definitely a "must have" for parents of high ability children who need an engaging and creative approach to math concepts. My daughter (8 yr.) simply will not complete worksheets, workbooks, or any other repetitive math drill, but she certainly does love a good cat story! For Christmas she received this book and The Adventures of Penrose, plus Fractals, Googols, and Other Math Adventures. She loves these stories, and is drawn into the exercises with enthusiasm. Ms. Pappas has created an original and adventurous series that "has just the right amount of facts and fun", to quote my daughter. Partner this series with the book "The Number Devil" by Hans Magnus Enzenberger, which is also a favorite in our home.

Entertaining and educational
Excellent engaging book that had my son asking difficult questions, got him critically thinking while feeling like he wasn’t doing maths at all!

I love cats and math
I love cats and math. I am nine. The first two sentences are from my son. This book, and the earlier Penrose the Mathematical Cat have an engaging style and include fairly high level math concepts (ones I learned in college as a math major), but presented in a fun way for kids.

See the rating of the first book. Lots of good suggestions covering a variety of math activities.Wish I were in that elementary school class.

Great Fun
Theoni Pappas continues to provide activities that are fun for student and teacher alike. Students learn math concepts, both simple and advanced, while enjoying the adventures of Penrose, who is one very smart cat.
