How do these function with electric chainsaws? I have found that the other Chaps are not suitable due to the high torque or the saw.
Would they be too hot in the Texas heat for just trimming? Thought it best to have for both trimming and chainsaw use? Any advice?

Safe At Last - Great Professional Protection For A Weekend Cutter

UPDATE WINTER 2020: These chaps are great. I have been cutting in them for several months. Comfort, easy on/off - highly recommend. Original Review: Last fall I sharpened my chainsaw. And with the engine off, after finishing sharpening, I just lightly brushed my leg with the sharpened chain. In a split second, the chain sliced my thick woodcutter jeans right across the front of my right leg. I had no real skin cut but thought ouch if this saw was running that would have been tragic. I was also far from home without cell phone coverage and I just stood there reflecting what could have occurred. It was then I vowed to get a pair of protection chaps. I do a lot of cutting on remote mountain hills and it seems it is always cold and wet in the fall cutting time. I searched, looked at different type chaps, half cut, full cut, caff protection, low cost, and lots of brands. Then I decided on the Husky as they had good reviews, offered caff protection and looked smart. They arrived, fit well on my 6' - 210-pound frame with a waist at 36" and inseam at 32. I bought the 40" - and they fit perfectly. Not too long, they fit nicely around my large caff muscles. I have not cut into them and hopefully never do, however, I feel much safer and I look professional with my orange gloves, helmet, ear protection, and Husky full caff protention chaps. They do get a bit warm in the hot sun 80 degrees, however, they are not cumbersome or bunch up like I had thought they would. I can tolerate the little sweat on a hot day to know I am protected against possible bleed out from an accident. If you cut deep in the mountain woods, alone, or far from medical assistance. Use these. Don't cheap-out, buy full chap and a good brand - heck whatever you do, just buy a pair and ware them if an accident ever happens you will be glad you have them.

Great fit, fairly comfortable.

No saw chaps I've ever used are designed to be "comfortable," they're designed to protect you from a wayward saw. I've been cutting for 30 years and thankfully haven't ever "needed" my chaps, but the peace of mind of having them, having seen what a saw can do to unprotected limbs, is priceless. These fit well on a bigger guy (I'm 6'4" and about 275# with a 34" inseam) have plenty of adjustment, and are as comfortable as one could reasonably expect for chaps. Once adjusted, they don't seem to sag, bunch, or ride up. The pockets are mostly useful and the hi-viz color and reflectors are a plus when working around others.

Great Chaps and 40-42 Fit This Tall Guy

I am 6-ft 4-in tall and prefer pants with a 34-in inseam or longer. The 40 to 42-in chaps fit me perfectly with maybe even some length to spare. I've worn them through about 5 gallons worth of chainsawing and am very happy with them. I've used the pocket on the waist to hold my watch when I forgot to take it off before heading into the field and it worked fine. The wrench pocket on the left thigh worked fine -- I didn't lose my wrench -- but I don't use it to carry my wrench regularly.Update: The left thigh pocket is perfect for an 8-in felling wedge. This is certainly its intended use and not for a wrench.Besides their intended use, these chaps are great when you need to push your way through stickers. On each leg, there are straps with four push-to-connect buckles (like the waist belt of a backpack, but 1-in wide strap): one around upper thigh and three around lower leg. There is a waist belt with a wider push-to-connect buckle and an approx 3-in wide belt. The chaps are easy to put on and to take off.I haven't taken a blade to the leg, so I cannot comment on how well these "work" but they "wear" great, if you see what I mean.

Better than Stihl chaps, for the same price.

I got these to replace my old, basic Stihl chainsaw chaps that I lightly nicked the knee of. It was my fault, and they did their job. I barely grazed the knee, but it ripped all the kevlar out, clogged my saw up, and now I need a new set.Anyway, these looked good, and I liked the wrap around calf for extra protection. Sizing was weird to figure out but eventually with the help of other reviews I got the 40-42" size. I wear 32" inseam pants, and this was the right size for the chaps. They rest on the tops of my feet, which is about as long as they could possibly be without getting under my heel and being annoying. I've worn them for maybe 15 hours of cutting at this point and they are working just fine. The wrap around calf is a bit more fiddly to put on than my old chaps, and is definitely a little hotter in summer, but I think the extra protection these provide is worth it. In general they fit as well as other chaps I've used, and they have a roll up waist to height adjust if you need. They have a weird, bottom-opening wedge pocket on the left leg which on me falls at knee height, too low to be handy, too awkward to use. If you need a wedge handy, this is not the answer, you should just get a belt pouch like everyone since the dawn of chainsaws.I like the reflecto-stripe on the legs, it's a nice touch. These appear to be well made, are reasonably comfortable (for kevlar snow pants), and are a better value than many other name brand chaps. I hope to never test them out, but they have more kevlar layers in them than the bargain chaps so that gives me some piece of mind.

Excellent fit and quality

I’ve been using a pair of Husqvarna’s less expensive consumer-grade chaps, and while they do offer good protection, they’re a little short for my height, and they don’t cover as well as I’d like. These have fantastic coverage, they have a lot of adjustment, and should fit a wide range of body sizes and shapes. I’ve used them once so far to clear fallen limbs and trees after a major storm swept through here, and I was very pleased with their performance. The price is very fair, and the used pair I bought- actually a return in new condition- was an absolute bargain.
