Superb!!
I wish I would have read this book both before and after the births of my twins and my little boy. There was so much information there that would have saved me stress and sorrow. For example...ideas about nutrition and excercise, understanding (not just quick info) about how your sex life will change - what's normal and not normal for parents with little children; really good ideas for your relationship with your spouse post-kids that will keep things 'simmering'...; understanding fatigue; vitamins...the works! I loved it, and have recommended it to many new mothers in my neighborhood. The writing is easy to understand, and even if you think you are a veteran mom or 'know it all' already...trust me, you havent. This book is a winner.

A must read
Rick once again does a wonderful job explaining deeper ( and scientific) issues with easily understood verbiage. If every person/couple invested just enough time to read this book and apply the info in their life, I know the divorce rate would actually decline. I'm reading this after raising two children and experiencing divorce, even though my outcome ended up great seven years later.the road was rough getting to the other side. I strongly believe this book read with a desire to create something better for their partner and family will help couples avoid pitfalls or at least help repair minor wounds.

This is a beautiful and inspiring book
This is a beautiful and inspiring book about parenting and building positive relationships with your child and spouse, while also caring for yourself as a parent. It talks realistically about the challenges of being a parent, without diminishing the joy, purpose, and meaning derived from being a parent. It helps you learn strategies of how to take care of yourself better to make sure that you do not get exhausted or depleted. I feel every parent should read this book for the sake of themselves, their child, and their relationship with their spouse.

Some parts helpful, some not
Good nutrition advice, but the relationship section seemed unrealistic and a little outdated. Maybe helpful if your marriage is struggling, but not helpful if your marriage is generally good and you're just navigating new territory as parents.

Wonderful
I believe all new mothers and lovers of mothers should read this. Very eye-opening. I smacked my forehead ("of corse!") a more than few times while reading this.

A trusted companion
The authors have provided not only new and new-to-be mothers with a trusted guide in the difficult challenge of self-care but have managed to offer a great support for all women in how to nurture and care for themselves. The book is a great read for fathers as well who want to be active participants in the support of caring for the women in their lives. Rick, Jan and Ricki offer practical, caring, and well-researched advice about everything from nutrition to the risk of depletion that especially new mothers face. I reccommend this as am important read for therapists and mental health professionals as well.

must-read for moms (and dads)
Unlike most self-help books, whose gimmicks are evident in the first chapter and merely reiterated throughout the rest of the book, each chapter of Mother Nurture covers fresh territory and offers the appropriate solutions. From sleep deprivation to rekindling the relationship with your partner, it's all in here. Problems are laid out using examples and the advice is practical, doable, and in plain Engish. All moms are sure to see themselves in this book, and there is plenty for dads to mull over as well (leave this book lying open to the chapters on intimacy, and if he picks it up, it may just disappear for days while he reads it all). This is now my gift to all new parents, and many of the veterans, within my circle of friends. And if I fail to improve my own lot as a mom, it will be strictly my own fault!
