Why your business needs this book
I bought the paperback. There are many reasons I like this book...it's way different from your average business how-to or management book. Here's why you probably need it:1. Your business needs to reinvent itself. Now. Let’s face it. COVID-19 has changed the world as we know it. There is no better time for this book. It’s about how a business that constantly reinvents itself becomes invincible. This is playing out now. We will see many businesses fail…this is something like a $30 investment. Well worth it IMO. 2. This book will make you the smartest person in the room. Often in business meetings, a CEO says something like, “How does Amazon do it?” Well, in this book, there are case studies of just about every company your leaders are going to ask about. I flipped to the index and found a ton of references to Amazon, for example. There’s even a whole timeline on them. Amazing. I can’t wait for the next time someone asks me “how does X do it?”! 3. There’s a plan to follow. Page xii has a plan for how you should read the book based on whether you’re a senior leader, innovation/team leader, or entrepreneur. I followed the entrepreneur path… A) Explore Map (p. 18)- this lets you test ideas for potential and risk. Wish I had a tool like this ages ago. At first, it may seem a bit overwhelming but they include an example of how Bosch used the map. They use it to weed out about 90% of ideas that won’t scale. Imagine having that kind of tool for your business. B) Pattern Library (p. 130) - 9 different kinds of business models you could apply. Again, you are going to look super smart.C) Entrepreneurial and team (p. 310) - tells you how to build your team based on your situation. There's a culture map too.4. The entire book is visual.Lots of images, illustrations, photos. It’s a gorgeous book, actually. You know how many business books can be full of text and super dry? This is not that. I will happily keep it on my desk in view.5. The pattern library is worth the price of the book alone. This is where you can see how the world’s most successful companies (Tesla, Microsoft, etc) created opportunity or disrupted others. There's a ton of value in this book. Well done.UPDATE: My husband spotted the book on my desk and now it's disappeared somewhere in his office. Might have to order another.

A practical, readable and thorough discussion of business models and more
I very much enjoyed this book, I had a sense of what I was in store for by downloading and reading the preview. I am familiar with discussions about business innovation thorough development of new revenue models, marketing strategies, product feature sets, competitive strategies, and so on. This book takes a different approach to these topics by describing and developing the actual steps to test and evaluate the core business model, and determine which are best suited to a particular product and service mix. In my experience, there has been too little discussion of designing business models, and this book lays the process out and provides a number of tangible examples. I will keep tis book close to my desk, and refer to it often as I work through strategic and tactical planning for new ventures. I highly recommend this book; based on practical experience and examples, you'll find out what you missed in MBA school.

How to create great companies for the future through business model innovation
If you are a business leader in search of a clear perspective of how to future-proof your organisation, this is possibly the most complete guide that you will find. The Invincible Company is a practical guide on how established companies can achieve a balance on how to exploit their current business models whilst exploring business models for the future. The book is filled with real-life practical examples of how successful companies that we all know have achieved this. I particularly liked how the book describes the Invincible Company as an "ambidextrous" organisation that uses its current successes as the base of resources and expertise to craft its future. The role of the "Chief Entrepreneur" and the entrepreneurial organisation may sound alien, but the case of PING AN is a clear example of how this can be done in practice. Congratulations to Alexander Osterwalder and his co-authors for launching such an awesome book!

A seminal work for a generation of innovation
The Strategyzer team have done it again and produced a classic. This has the feel of a book that will stand the test of time. Of course it’s produced with the same high quality visual design as the rest of this series. it’s focus on building a broad ecosystem that can drive a sustainable approach to innovation is highly relevant and well sourced. This is a playbook for a new generation of innovative companies.

Must read for entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders
Is your company struggling to adapt to changing industry forces and/or customer needs? Do coworkers and leaders attribute innovation to the success of big bets on novel ideas? Does your company apply the same process and success metrics of your established business models to emerging opportunities? If the answer is "yes" to any of these questions, The Invincible Company will help you, your team, and your company establish the thinking and the frameworks that are needed to explore new business models and exploit existing business models. The book provides both the theory behind the explore-exploit model and real world examples that demonstrate how successful companies reinvent and remain relevant. I highly recommend this book to entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders that want to innovate by design, not luck.
