Not as good as I expected
SPOILERS BELOWI read the first book in this series and thoroughly enjoyed it. So I sorta, kinda had expectations that this would measure up....WRONG.Gage meets Marina and somehow forgets, even though he has been trying to set up a meeting with her dad (who has the same last name) to put two and two together. If he's scouting this business to buy it, how would he not know she's the daughter of the owner? Or that she's running the bakery? What kind of real estate entrepreneur is he? It was just so illogical and silly.I hate, hate, hate when characters in a book have the "the person was so strikingly gorgeous that I lost all senses and five minutes later I'm in love and put my soul out there" moment. While this is fiction, it still needs to be somewhat relatable. You have to picture yourself in the story. I just couldn't with this. Now let's move on to the supposed "tension" between the two. It lasted a hot minute. Gage sends flowers, goes to the bakery, they fight, he leaves, comes back and they have sex? What? And the car sex was so...odd.The "proposal" was insulting and I'm disappointed the main character didn't stand up for herself and her dignity. The whole story was like a bunch of random events, some awkward sex, some more events, sex, the end. No heart, no soul...just words.I just may skip on the third book...

Good book
3.5 Stars Marina Knight has graduated college and taken over managing the bakery, one of the businesses owned by her family. Marina has never felt like her family took her seriously and really wants to do well, proving to her family that she indeed is the businesswoman that she desires to be. After the economic crises hit, Marina's family took a big loss, and have had to sell off a good bit of personal property. Unfortunately, one of the prime strips of real estate her family owns happens to include the bakery that Marina loves. The person who has been buying up prime real estate in the area and who wants the strip the bakery is in, is billionaire and business tycoon Gage Emerson. Determined to protect her family and their assets, Marina embarks on a plan to put Gage Emerson in his place and save her family's business. What she didn't expect was the way she would react to the just the site of Gage Emerson, and his touch, well, it just about did her in.Gage Emerson is a commanding presence and when he walks into a room, he owns it. He knows what he wants and he isn't afraid to go after it. When he sees Marina, he is drawn to her, even though she isn't the typical type of woman he usually seeks out. She's young, beautiful beyond reason, and carries herself in a way that has Gage wanting to consume her. The chemistry between them is off the charts and they both can feel it. This is confusing to both of them, and as strong as the chemistry is, so also is the angst and animosity between them. Gage manages to offend Marina, and she quickly lets him know what she thinks of him. When he figures out who she is, he attempts to apologize, and Gage and Marina find themselves in the throws of a passion so great it catches them both off guard. Neither want a relationship, Marina has the business to think about and Gage has his plans, not to mention the "bet" he made with his friends Archer and Matt. However,......the heart wants what the heart wants, and the physical attraction is like an all consuming fire, but business is business and sometimes even with the best intentions, things tend to turn around and bite you in the butt, no matter how hard you try. Will love win or is the love of money to big an obstacle for these star-crossed lovers to overcome.I really enjoyed Torn. The romance is hot and Gage Emerson brings the sizzle to the story for sure. The book is a light, easy read that is entertaining, fast-paced, and has some really hot scenes that will get your blood pumping, while providing you with that guy that melts your heart and your panties in the process. Torn is the second book in the Billionaire Bachelor Club Series. I have not read the first book yet, but this didn't affect my enjoying Torn at all. and it can easily be read as a standalone. That said however, I will be going back and reading Crave. The main characters from Crave, Ivy and Archer, are also seen in Torn, and I definitely want to read their story, and Ivy is Gage's little sister while Archer is his best friend. I enjoyed watching the relationship and the romance between Gage and Marina develop as the book progressed, and Monica Murphy definitely brought on the steam. The ending was very good and left me feeling completely satisfied with where the story went. If you are looking for a fun, hot contemporary romance, then Torn fits the bill. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Gage is YUMMY
I am a HUGE believer that anything Monica Murphy writes is gold. She keeps knocking out fantastic book after fantastic book. Torn is no different. In Crave Asher had my heart and I did not think it was possible for anyone of the other 2 to even come close but damn, Gage made it light up even more. Gage is sexy, giving, and wonderful. Gage has grown his bank account from real estate. He finds the right property and goes and does a buyout when the seller needs is. The one property he has been eyeing he can't seem to get the deal done,, much less meet with the owner. At a party one night he is enamored by Marina Knight, he soon realizes she is the daughter of the owner and his one way ticket to winning. Marina knows who Gage is and is determined to make him suffer. When these two get together they are combustible, absolutely HOT. They quickly fall in love with each other, but misunderstanding and not being able to trust the other fully their love quickly shatters, but Gage will not go down easily. WOW, Monica Murphy, thanks so much for giving us a character like Gage, he is flawed, but so loving and just wants to make Marina happy. Even when she hates him, he does all that he can to make her happy. SWOON!!!! This is a must read book, and series. You will love all of them. I can't wait to read Matt's story in Savor.

Torn between their attraction for each other and wanting their businesses to succeed.
This is the second book in the Billionaire Bachelor Club series. The couple from the first book, 'Crave' are referred to, but this is essentially a standalone book. Not believing in love, Gage Emerson has made a bet with his two friends for the sum of a million dollars. The winner is the one who falls in love last. Archer is already out of the running, which leaves only Gage and Matt as the potential winners. The story begins with property developer Gage at a business function. He's hoping to meet a member of the Molina family, who he's hoping to buy some property from. Here he meets the alluring Marina Knight, who is part of the Molina family on her mother's side. Marina is trying desperately hard to make a success of her business, an artisan bakery she rubs with her aunt. This bakery is in the middle of the properties that Gage wants to buy so Marina is against him, despite being very attracted to him:"I'm drawn to all that heady temptation, despite wanting to also knee him in the balls and tell him to go to hell."Gage is also torn - he's very enticed by Marina, but his primary reason for getting to meet her was to get an in with the Molinas, plus he doesn't really want a relationship, but he finds himself getting drawn in, partly through their sexual attraction, and partly through contrariness at not having her falling at his feet:"...when I hear a no it makes me work that much harder to turn it into a yes."What follows is a steamy romance where we see whether they can overcome being torn between wanting each other and wanting their respective businesses to succeed. On the whole this was an enjoyable read, but I had a bit of a quibble with how fast everything goes. I thought they got physical more quickly than was plausible and then into serious relationship territory in no time at all. I'd have preferred there to be more of a build up. Also these two have a big argument which is completely justified on her side but a bit paranoid on his side which seemed a bit out of character. However, it was a nice escape for an hour or two, and I've preordered the third book, 'Savor'.

Sizzle-icious
It just goes to prove that no matter how much money a man has the saying still rings true 'Boys will be boys' even when they are fully grown men. Their immaturity has a way of shining through, lol. When the three best friends make a million dollar bet not to fall in love you can guarantee that fate/karma is going to step in to ensure just that.It was really nice to see a different side to Gage from the introduction to him in Crave. Although still intense he has a more casual persona adding to his appeal. The contrast between Gage and Archer in their demeanour both physical and emotional supplemented the world building. There is far more to these men than good looks and money, they just needed the right women to bring it out.The use of Marina's cafe and Gage's property development business added the right amount of apprehension to the plot. While the setting added more than a little sizzle to the narrative ;)Monica manages to progress the original characters while paving the way for the next book.Pure adult fairytale material *swoon*

GAGE
Three men, friends that made a bet a million dollars to the last man standing. In book one we've already read about Archer and Ivy, this time it's Gage's turn.Gage is after acquiring some property from Marina Knight's father. But Mr. Knight is proving elusive. When Gage meets Marina he intends to use her to get to her father, but Marina wants something from Gage as well. But neither had planned on the red hot attraction between them both. This second book is ever better than the first IMO. Gage was sexy as hell, but endearing and vulnerable. Marina is desperate to keep the bakery that she and her Aunt Gina run. She can't allow Gage to be a distraction. What I liked about this was how the author managed to inject real emotion and tension into the story, and lets not forget the really hot sex. The scene in the kitchen was really sexy. Next up is Matt the last of the friends, can't wait to read his story which I believe is out January 2014.

Torn
Another good follow up book. This time it is all about Gage. I did think he was going to mess it up with Marina. It was nice having a girl who was from a normal family who struggle with normal family stuff. It was also nice to have Archer and Ivy pop in the book.

a good read
I loved the beginning with the banter between them. I also loved waiting for them to get together and admit their feelings. However, I thought it rushed through far too quickly. Skipping a month here, 2 weeks there... Bit of a let down. Not a bad book though. But could've been more

Trouble in the Vally
4.5 ratingI have so enjoyed the exclusive second book of this most amazing romantic series of Billionaires Bachelors Club. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book Crave and just couldn't waited for the next one. Monica Murphy has brought to her readers the sense of pure romance for all her characters. This book focuses us on Gages response to true love. When Marina Knight finally arrived in the Napa Valley realising there were so many others there too. She was approached by a gorgeous suited man. Making her so flushed and utterly terrified she stood still. He had confidence overflow lay by his sparkling eyes he smiled to say his name, Gage Emerson. Marina wanted To have her bakery be now involved now in the area and so she could also met the other business people there as well. Gage and his whole empireI loved this awesome book. Both these wonderful and very different characters. As they both fell in love. Such a marvellous romance!
