Product Description 'Rebel,Sweetheart' is the welcome re-introduction to a grown up rock & roll band with a renewed sense of purpose. The Wallflowers have created an album that yearns for clarity while reflecting the world's complexity these are songs written by a man and performed by a band that's already lived a little. From the powerful expression of hope on the first single 'The Beautiful Side Of Somewhere' to the moodily stunning 'We're Already There', 'Rebel, Sweetheart' is poised to be the most focused and accomplished album of their career. Interscope. 2005. .com As a testament to his own hard work ethic, Jacob Dylan has continued to record in spite of the lack of spotlight. With the release of his fifth disc, Rebel, Sweetheart, the singer/songwriter's dedication to the classic rock genre is again self-evident. Influences ranging from Springsteen's E Street Days ("God Says Nothing Back") to Tom Petty ("All Things New Again") ultimately reinforce Jacob's deep love of classic acoustic rock. The first single also happens to be one of Rebel, Sweetheart's strongest. "The Beautiful Side of Somewhere" is indicative of the younger Dylan's songwriting tendency to write with a darker pen; a tune begging the dark times to depart doesn't usually make for strong radio play, but the expansive musical swell at the track's end is one likely to bring new fans to the gates. The DualDisc version of the CD offers fans a 30 minute performance film, including reworked versions of "One Headlight" and "6th Avenue Heartbreak" as well as an amusing band interview with comedian Jon Lovitz. --Denise Sheppard

"Happy Birthday to the war..."
It took me 10 years to break down and finally purchase "Rebel, Sweetheart" by The Wallflowers. I don't know why I waited so long since I loved, "Bringing Down The Horse", "Breach", and "Red Letter Days" (my personal favorite). Maybe it's because this album didn't garner much attention or radio airplay when it was first released in 2005. I always meant to add "Rebel, Sweetheart" to my CD collection but over the years, I "forgot" about it and purchased other albums instead. I bought this album on a "whim" and I am NOT disappointed in the least. "Rebel, Sweetheart" is a brilliant, introspective, well-produced rock album. Produced by Brendan O'Brien (who has worked with everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Stone Temple Pilots, etc.) really worked his magic here. There is NOT one bad track. Lead singer, Jakob Dylan (I still think he's a hot babe) penned every track and his voice sounds velvety smooth and sexy. Some of the tracks are somewhat dark and moody. A lot of them are about the Iraq War ("Days of Wonder" and "The Beautiful Side of Somewhere" to name a few) which was in full bloom in 2005. Some are carefree, fun, and catchy like "Back To California" and "We're Already There". Others are haunting and absolutely gorgeous like "From the Bottom of My Heart", "How Far You've Come", and my favorite track, "God Says Nothing Back". Also notable tracks include "The Passenger" and "Here He Comes (Confessions of A Drunken Marionette)" I think the BEST track is "Nearly Beloved" which contains my favorite lyric of The Wallflowers' entire catalogue of songs: "Last night I lived more than one thousand lives, not one of them survived..." Pretty awesome, huh? There's a couple of tracks that I don't love as much as the others but they're still very good like "I Am A Building" and "All Things New Again". Compared to all their other albums I have, (I don't own the debut album, sorry) I think "Rebel, Sweetheart" is their best album to date. It's crazy this album wasn't a commercial success 10 years ago but that's okay, because underrated albums last a lifetime. I highly recommend it! Enjoy.

Solid album
Released in 2005, this was the Wallflowers studio album until 2012. Brendan O'Brien produced, and it is solid from start to finish. The singles were "The Beautiful Side of Somewhere" and "God Says Nothing Back", though the strongest titles may be "We're Alreay There" with it's beautiful lyrics and chord progressions, and "I Am a Building", the rythm of which is unlike anything you've heard from this band. Most fans are primarily familiar with the band's 1996 breakthrough Bringing Down the Horse and 2000's Breach, but this album may be their strongest.

Excellent Record
I bought this cd back in August 05, and I'm still listening to it now, in the February 06. I'll admit that my first play through the cd didn't impress me, but it did make me want to listen to it again, and then again after that, and then again...This cd will not be leaving my cd player for a very long time. It is very subtle, but the songs are infectious, and the variety and depth of the lyrics keeps them fresh and interesting for many repeated listens.Wallflowers music definately takes work to appreciate; these are not mindless lyrics with throw-away guitar riffs. But for the contemplative listener, it might just be the best music out there.Favourite tracks:Confessions of a Drunken Marionette, We're Already There, God says nothing back, All Things New Again.

great
really like this one enjoy sound and lyrics l actually ordered this and other wallflowers cds because I initially purchased the two Jakob Dylan Cds and really liked them. I purchased the first 'women and country' because I was curious to hear what Jakob sounded like as I am a die hard Bob Dylan fan and I was pleasantly surprised as listening to Jakob made me smile just like listening to Bob improves my mood and makes me smile.my favourite wallflower cd

Adding more music to my collection just got easier while listening to more music created by the Wallflowers I never checked into the rest of their music after purchasing One Headlight

Not half bad
5 tracks into this I was already mentally compiling a relatively negative review to this one. Then along came God says nothing back, and the whole direction of the album changed. The first few tracks aren't bad , just a little samey with a rather muddy production sound-think mediocre Tom Petty-the next 8,maybe with the exception of All things new again, are the ticket though. Overall then pretty damn good but not up to Bringing down the horse.

AMAZING ALBUM!
I chose this product as I love the wallflowers previous albums and wanted to complete my collection. Jakob Dylan is such a gifted songwriter, I listened to the album several time through when it arrived. The service was great too. I ordered it on the sunday and it arrived by Wednesday. Previously, I've had trouble when ordering online but this arrived sooner than expected and in great condition.

All things new again.
Highway taugliche 10/10 Punkten. Über die singt Jakob (ich nenn' das Kind mal beim Vornamen, sonst kommt man da durcheinander) bildlich-selbstironisch as if he really would be a building that is here without doors...9/10Bei den ersten Klängen von „From the bottom of my heart" fing' ich beim erstem Mal hören schon an zu schniefen. 9/10„How far you've come", erinnert zu sehr an „Invisible city", das ich leider nie so richtig einschätzen bzw. schätzen konnte.
