Q: Have any of you found this scale to become inaccurate after like 6 months of use? Despite loosing weight, this scale says I have "maintained."

Dial scale such as these have mechanical failure or defect at times. Also keep in mind that muscle growth gain weight while cutting fat.

Q: Does anyone find this scale shows a different weight depending on where you place it on the ground?

Dear Charlotte: I bought 3 of these beauties...Not only do they give you different weights depending on where you place them, put in the exact same place and I got three different weights! Here's the bottom line, take these scales and add them to the pile of junk you're planning on converting into a boat anchor! Some lucky soul via Goodwill Industries now own the three I took there for at least a small tax deduction as a charitable donation. Go to Bed, Bath and Beyond and purchase your scales and you'll be pleased or at least you'll have the ability to return the purchase if you're not happy with it. Hope this helps! Toodles

I think you mean that the dial seems to not be exactly at zero when nothing is on it. Correct? Scales are like that. I normal scale will drift as part of its functionality and you need to use the KNOB to reset it to ZERO every time before you get on it. Or you could add and subtract those pounds too I guess if you have trouble bending over for example due to injury? Or it's possible someone is losing weight and needs to lose a bit more before it's comfortable to bend over all the time so just add or subtract those pounds that the scale shows away from zero. I adjust the dial every time I get on the scale. I hope this answers your question.
