Fluidmaster 400AH PerforMAX Universal High Performance Toilet Fill Valve, Easy Install

As a useless Millennial, I pride myself on trying to take on little DIY tasks in the house. This was pretty easy to figure out and comes with instructions. My toilet tank is tucked under a countertop which makes it more of a pain in the butt to replace this than it needed to be but that's not fault of the fluidmaster. Anyway, point is that if you're the type of person who will put a whole in the wall trying to remove a baseboard like I am, just know this is doable for you. If you're successful installing it, enjoy the unreasonable sense of self accomplishment.

These are easy to install but must not perform well over time in regions with hard water. I find that these fail after about 1-2 year and what happens is the float valve gets a little stuck as the water level drops during a flush. The result is the float valve doesn't trigger the water to refill so the tank remains empty. You can lift the tank lid and slightly press the float lever to free the valve and it will fill the tank again. I've tried changing the settings and even lubricating the post that the float moves along although it's only a temporary fix. I won't use this style again.

I’m so disappointed with this. Incredibly easy to install, but it’s way louder than the Korky it was replacing and it takes forever to fill the tank. It makes a loud, high-pitched hissing sound as the tank fills, which you can hear everywhere in the house, it’s very annoying.To top it off, even with the bowl filler tube turned completely off, it takes ages to fill the tank.Just purchased another Korky to replace it with.

Works as expected. Easy install and alots of adjustments. Seems good quality. Fills a little slower than my old korky fill valve and a lttle louder too. Will see how long this last. My old one lasted only 5 years. I've had the old ball style valve last 15 years in the past. The water saver selector is really hard to adjust. Could have used a simpler dial type like korky does.Update: I just realized there is a newer model 400H which has higher fill rate then this one as it doesnt have a restrictor according to the manufacturer and it has a dial water saver switch. I should have bought that one instead. Its basically the same price but better.
