disappointing
Total disappointment. Way overpriced, was mainly dust and useless. I hate to give a bad review and try to be honest and look for positive things to say, but this was the worst purchase I have ever made through Amazon since I became a member in 2016. Looking at the description I understand that it was my bad for even paying that much for that amount, I don't fault Seller because I didn't pay attention to quantity vs price, but getting a bag of dust was not my fault. I didn't request refund, I just absorbed the cost rather than the hassle, but never again.

Avoid this bag of perlite dust
The bag was half full of just dust. I wanted to buy perlite, not perlite dust. I highly recommend against this product. Go to your local nursery instead. Its also way, way overpriced for 4 quarts. The perlite in my bag is NOT the same sized at pictured.

Pack your perlite better next time! Mine exploded in the box and it was a mess, thus the one star review.
To be honest, I threw this stuff away so I am not sure if it actually works. I threw it away because it was like a giant perlite BOMB went off when I opened the box. The perlite had busted open all over the place in shipping. Imagine, if you will, those annoying staticky packing peanuts ... but really really really TINY staticky packing peanuts ... that is what it was like dealing with the exploded bag of perlite. So I got annoyed and just chucked it. It was a mess.

So sorry I bought this. Home Depot had a 2 quart bag for half the price. I should have gone to check them out first.

Quite a bit of it arrived crushed
I bought a 1-qt bag because I only needed about half that much to repot some mini-miniature orchids, and I didn't want to have a giant bag of perlite sitting around. Luckily, about half the bag was indeed usable, and I was able to complete my repotting project. The remainder, I'm really not sure what to do with, as it's mostly dust. I'll just dump it into some potting soil next time I have a terrestrial plant to repot. In a hydroponic culture, this won't do.Purchasing a small bag at this price, I really expected better quality. I understand it's a fairly fragile medium, so maybe selling it in a rigid container would be better? As it is, for $6.99 that I paid, this was a disappointment.

Not worth the $
Before I bought this like others I read the reviews about it being mostly dust. So I was happily surprised when I recieved it that for me.. that wasnt the case. I needed it asap for incubating Lepord Gecko eggs so I thought even if most of it was dust I'd be okay. My problem is with the price.. it's just not worth it. I didn't have a choice cause no store in my area had it (I checked everywhere). So if you have the opportunity go to your local Walmart, Home Depot or Lowes and buy it. I just wasnt lucky when I tried and they were out of it and I had eggs that needed to be saved.

Purchased as a soil additive for my potted palm trees... the size of the perlite is just right but let me tell you, you don't get much for what you're paying. I will look elsewhere next time.

Fast delivery, good product
I've never used perlite before, so I have nothing to compare this to. It was hard to find locally. I really enjoyed mixing this with my African Violet potting soil, as I'm trying to help an ailing violet. Fortunately, I know how I caused the violet's problem. I think this perlite mixed very well to provide a very light mix. It might be too late for the violet though.
