VERY BRIGHT - love base and clip on choice
I am VERY happy with this light. I use it for when I am embroidering. Its very bright. Its white light not yellow tone. The base is very heavy. It is not going to tip over. Think of it as the heaviest paperweight ever. I also love that you can remove it from the base and it put it in the clip to attach to the table, which is how Im using it and it swivels. Very easy to switch from base to clip on option. As for the magnify part its very nice. I look at my work through it to check for spots of material I might have missed when stitching- such as filling in an area with strait stitches. My table I clamp the light to is one inch wide. I tried to put a a thin book about 1/2 inch in the clamp with the table as well but it wasnt too sturdy. The opening would have to go deeper. So its not going to clamp onto a 2 inch table. I was trying to see my work magnified through the magnifiers you wear around your neck that they sell for needle work and those work and have a light, but it needs batteries. I found its way easier to just use magnifying reading glasses from the drugstore and use this very bright light to see with. Also Im seeing the true colors of my threads with the white light tone vrs yellow light bulbs. the light part is 5 inches in diameter. So its not too big. I think it would be a bit frustrating to hold your work and look through the magnifying part as the diameter is only 5 inches. You would need to constantly center your stitching area while you held it in your hand. you wouldn't be able to just glance around. But its amazing how the drug store glasses work great. I ve turned into my mom.the previous light I was using was ok. But this one is way better and brighter. And the swivel part is great because when Im not having it shine on my work I just push it out of the way and so I do not have to unclamp it from the table. My cat of course doesnt like it since its very bright so he sleeps facing the other way. Also the light shines down on your work, not up into your eyes. However, you can flex the light to point in any direction. Up, down , sideways. Again very bright. This was my first light to try and I lucked out. I thought I might have to try several before I found a really good one I liked. Always nice when that happens.

Perfect Magnifying Glass and Light for DIY Nail Enthusiast
I have just gotten into doing my own dip nails at home. The only problem is that I can't see very well unless I bring my nail close to my face. Well, that is no good, as I suffer from sensitivities to the dip liquids. This magnifying glass and light have solved that problem for me. The magnification is perfect for my needs (not too small or too big). The light is nice and bright but not blinding. Also, I love that the gooseneck is adjustable. This helps to achieve the perfect position throughout my manicure. Additionally, I use the base of the light to hold my dip liquids and other little items I may need during my manicure. Very convenient. Finally, I appreciate that it comes with a clip. However, I have no need for it at the moment. So, I can't say how well it will hold the glass and light. But it looks as if it would be very sturdy. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

Working distance is perfect
I do 1 and 5 star reviews.FWIW, my bifocal eyesight is +2.25-+2.50.I CANNOT use head magnification due to heavy respirator filters and/or glasses. Also, various diopters just make things way too fussy for what I do.It IS difficult to find low magnification that has "working distance/space" underneath. The photos show an ordinary small file and there is room to maneuver from object to lens. I can also paint with short brushes. So many products fail to mention this.My craft requires me to stand and I do not need glasses to make it work. The glass lens is crystal clear and large enough to get a field of view with BOTH eyes. The lights are very bright and are either on or off (no mode switching color or intensity) and the color of light suits my eyes. The AC power has a very small adapter (it is small enough to fit into a power strip without occupying too much space and has a very light, thin, long cord so it doesn't anchor or "grab" the arm.You still need supporting light to balance the brightness, meaning, using it in the dark, for me, is blinding. The arm swivels in base which is heavy "enough" to hold in a stationary position but it has limits, i.e., don't expect to bend the arm at base horizontally and get "L" shaped coverage. It arcs well and should be good enough for reading at a desk. The included clamp is most effective at exactly one inch. Do not buy if you plan to use clamp on thicker material or a great deal thinner. The last two "mechanical" mentions are due to the weight of the lens, which IS the best feature, so take it for what it is.It is remarkably substantial and does not seem to be a "consumable."It is excellent.
