I bought this out of curiosity as the only coffee drinker in my house. It makes one full regular sized mug of coffee. As a French press newbie, I followed instructions I found online: using bread crumb sized grounds, place grounds in press, heat water to 198 degrees F, pour enough water over grounds for them to soak, let it sit for 3 1/2 minutes, pour the rest of the water in, give it a not-too-thorough stir, let it sit for 30 seconds, then press and pour it into your mug. As I’ve gotten more used to using the press, I’ve learned to guesstimate the temperature and I’ve adjusted my timing a bit. I’m loving the subtle taste difference from a drip machine and I enjoy the ritual each morning.The press itself is well made and is standing up well to daily use and being washed in the dishwasher. I highly recommend this product!

Wrong size and very thin glass

The Fino French press is perfect for one large mug (11-12 oz) of coffee or 3 small espresso shots. Some of the reviewers were surprised by the size and gave low ratings, but the capacity is clearly stated in the description details. I have the same size press by Bodum and I kept breaking the glass so was looking for a replacement carafe from a company NOT Bodum because their replacement carafes are expensive and they charge postage. When I found the same size carafe by Fino, I ordered it AND the full French Press in case the carafe didn't fit in my Bodum press. It does fit and is less than half the price of Bodum's so I'm a happy camper with two French presses.

If you plan to replace your Bodum Brazil's beaker, it could be done, but be aware that it may have a very snug fit. It is typically necessary to heat Bodum Brazil’s plastic handle and base in hot water to expand and soften them before attempting to insert any replacement beaker. Unlike other replacement beakers from different manufacturers that may have a bit of room for adjustment before the plastic handle and base cool and secure the glass beaker, this beaker from Fino in particular, is known for being a particularly tight fit and can be difficult to insert. The tightness of the fit can also cause concern that the pressure could potentially break the glass beaker.

Pros- allows you to keep using the plastic portion of your Bodum French Press after your original beaker ($20 Bodum replacement part for a : ( $20 French Press ) has broken. It cost me $7.Cons: it is about 1/4 inch taller and too snugly wider than the Bodum 12 ounce beaker so the average person will not be able to make it workHow to make it work: Heat the base of the Bodum frame with a hair dryer and then insert the beaker, applying gentle pressure until it is in place all the way. Then just attach the handle at the top with a slight stretch. Handle will be slightly bowed but that's OK. Your plunger will not go down as far but it doesn't need to. You can move the rod up from the plastic sleeve exposing an 1/8 inch of thread. That way it is still threaded to the screen at the other end.

Very happy with this low cost option. It fits my old French press perfectly!
