A Photographic Field Guide to the Birds of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh

A descent guide but needs improvement
The Indian subcontinent has long been a fabulous destination for birders with so many endemics and regional specialties so it’s no wonder there are several field guides to the region. This photographic guide compliments many of the existing guides providing a novel format for the region. The down side is that having so many species this book is quite heavy and cumbersome and probably not best in the field. As with many photographic guides the species photo, range map and text are all together which can be a bit lumpy and difficult to make species comparisons. It’s often difficult to get a photo of each species with similar poses so comparing like to like is not always possible. The text is limited and often difficult to discern with the background photo. Range maps could do with being bigger especially with such a large landmass covered. There are several incorrect photos assigned to species so there is some updating to do for further editions. Though a valiant effort there needs to be more work done to improve this guide.

Great Book!
It is very useful book if you are planning to visit Nepal and you are a bird lover. Saw lots of birds from the book during my trip to Nepal. It is a heavy book but it contains useful pictures and information.
