TheraBulb's 250 Watt Infrared Silicone Coated Safety Bulb is a premium incandescent bulb that emits infrared light in the healing wavelengths 700 - 1200 nanometers. It has been dipped in high heat silicone to provide a level of protection from shattering. With long periods of use it is possible for some of the silicone to peal from the bulb however this does not effect the performance of the bulb. The TheraBulb 250 watt bulb is a premium incandescent infrared bulb that has been designed to deliver a therapeutic level of infrared light. In addition to the bulb also produces warmth providing further therapeutic benefit. Please note that the surface of your TheraBulb may show minor cosmetic blemishes on the coating on the bulb including; small dimples, bubbles, areas of heavier or lighter coating, spots of darker or lighter color and minor marks on the bulb. TheraBulb uses a thicker than typical coating on the outside surface that is both reflective and protective of the glass resulting in a bulb that more efficiently directs the release of infrared light safely through the top of the bulb. These marks may be more apparent when the bulb is on, but in no way negatively impact the performance or life of the bulb. Poor Product: Burning and Coating Peels Off
Buyer beware. The coating not only gives off a bad burning smell, it peels off leaving little shards of plastic/silicone everywhere. This started immediately--only used the bulbs a total of 3-4 hours (15 minutes at a time). Purchased three of them--it happened on all three. They also false advertised--project description on Amazon says they are 700-1200 nm...they are actually 600-900 nm.

150 Watt
I suggest the 150 Watt bc 250 is too hot. If it is winter though the 250 is nice. Warmer part of the year or cooler? Your pick! Nice item! I ordered 3 and 1 came busted. Amazon fixed order so it wasn't an issue!

The silicone coating odor does not seem to dissipate with use, it is very strong and cannot be healthy. Unfortunately I bought two, wish I could return them.

First I do not know if it works - I am not a medical professional. But, just in case it does I use it after each shower. Only time will tell.

Expensive lesson.
I bought the coated 250 directly from the company. They work fine as far as the IR, but the smoke and odor they put off is very annoying and I doubt very healthy. I had to vent the room for a while during and after use until smell dissipated. I have used the 150 watt uncoated and have not had this problem. I ordered the uncoated for future use and will keep the coated for back ups. Hopefully after continued use the smell and smoke will no longer be a problem. My advice, handle the bulbs with care and opt for the uncoated, you don't know what kind of gases the coated could be giving off.
