The Straight Girl’s Guide to Sleeping with Chicks

I see that some reviewers take issue with the title/approach and feel that this book supports homophobia. I've given that some thought, but I tend to think that it is more geared towards women like myself who have only had straight experiences and are curious about female sexuality. The book tries to encourage women to let go of stigma attached to their genitals and their sexuality and embrace a whole buffet of sexual experiences. Things might be for you, it might not, and that's okay. That goes for sleeping with women, anal, whatever. I personally think it's a decent book for the curious, and it lets people label themselves. Since it normalizes female love affairs and lesbian sex, I don't feel that it's too homophobic.Sincero's humor is a bit try-hard for me, and I'd call it 'aggravating' more than 'sassy', but that's a matter of personal taste. I'm not sure I really dug the Barbie doll sex position pictures – I prefer drawn pics – but some folks might find them helpful for visualizing. I did learn quite a lot. It's at least given me new ideas of things to try with myself or in my erotica writing, whether I ever get to explore lady love or not. It has one of the best resource appendices that I've seen, and I'm glad I bought the book for that alone. It lists books, websites, movies, porn, and sex shops, but the author also talks a little about each one and lets you know what they're like. That's going to be invaluable for me. I'd probably call this more 3.5 stars from me, but I have to round lower rather than higher compared to some of the other books on sexuality that I've been reading lately.

A step ahead of "The Sensuous Woman" ?
Once upon a time "The Sensuous Woman" taught the importance of women training themselves to understand what they want to better get along with men. The present volume teaches women the value of understanding what women want to better get along with them. It is the same age-old material with an entirely different focus. The hand-drawn anatomical charts and Barbie-Doll models demonstrating Kama-Sutra positions are an artistic plus. This later effort has a light hearted and optimistic approach to the whole "women don't know what they're doing when it comes to sex" mantra but it is still a sex-manual useful for both men and women when it comes to making out with the girls. There are reading and viewing lists with reviews at the end so you get the whole course with an extensive, at-home, on your own time study guide.

Heads up
I would have liked a heads up that the cover was bent.

Light-hearted introduction
As a lesbian who has fallen for (and ended up dating) several "straight" or bisexual women, when Amazon recommended this book with it's catchy title and clever cover image, I thought, "Eh, why not? Can't hurt to see things from the other side, right?" What I discovered was a witty, smart book that covers many of the emotional and physical aspects of having sex with other women. Honestly, I wish I'd read this book before the first time I had sex! Even as an experienced lover of women, it had things to teach me. If you're at all curious about sleeping with someone who society says looks too much like you, you should get, read, and think about this book.

Didn't solve the problem...
I suppose I can't blame the book because it is geared toward straight women and I identify as bi but the book just didn't solve the problem I was having with women. It's a problem that many men and women experience and should have been better addressed: talking to women I am attracted to. It did not cover this at all and that's what I was looking for. The section on flirting was the shortest and most vague of this normally medically precise book. All it really said was, "Now go flirt with her like you normally do!" Not helpful...Other than that, this is a great and educational read.

I love the way this author writes. She writes like I’m talking to one of my friends. Very easy to interpret and understand. A must read if you’re feeling curious! She broke it down for you!!! I loved it. Gave tips on what to do and stories from others.

Every woman needs it
I've always thought every woman needs to hook up with a chick at least once to unleash her inner sexual goddess. I found my girl and was petrified yet excited. Reading this booked helped me realize how lucky I am and how great of a situation it is. I can't wait to bang her! This book offers everything necessary to calm a sister down when exploring a new territory, and does so in a very respectful way.

Awesome!
Oh my gosh. This book had me cracking up. I highly recommend this book for straight women whose boyfriends or hubbies are asking to bring another lady into the bedroom with them or for ladies like me who are omnisexual with a huge interest in women but no real practice and want their first encounter with a lady to be awesome and not awkard. It's cleverly written, and very informative. I enjoyed it.
