Perfect for rest and meditation
I love this so much. I bought one to play in my preschool classroom at quiet time, plus two more as baby shower gifts. They were so affordable and I just love the idea of global lullaby collection. The Irish, Gaelic, and Israeli tracks were predictably easy on my ears because I grew up with those sounds, but I also love the Cambodian and Chilean tracks. Lovely. I love me some Mozart and Brahms, but I can't listen to the same thing every single day! This is a beautiful and refreshing album to throw into your kiddos' resting playlist, or your meditation playlist. It is soothing and addictive but not especially childish.

Great music but not good for bedtime
I love this CD for calming music during the day or even just to listen to while we drive around town. The songs are great and really enjoyable, but some are a little too hyper for a lullaby CD. They seem to wake my daughter up. But I'd still buy the CD hands down because I like the songs so much.

Wonderful
I love almost every track on this CD, and my baby likes it too. I would be happier if the tracks bled together, creating a continuous lullaby effect, but it is pretty amazing and beautiful and only has a couple of tracks that I skip. I would order this again.

Pure Magic
I bought this CD as we were transitioning my 6 month old granddaughter from sleeping with her mom to sleeping in her crib. It had been a real challenge. The music on this CD was pure magic. My granddaughter stopped crying upon hearing the music and was totally calmed. She fell asleep about halfway through. We play this for her almost nightly and she goes to sleep peacefully almost as soon as the music begins. We had tried classical music and other types of lullaby music to no avail. There is simply something magic about this one. Oh, and it also puts mommy to sleep....! I highly recommend it.

Music Is Acoustic Love
When is the last time you have sung acoustic love to your child? If you haven't, you should.Maybe one of the reasons why our world is in such a dire state of existence is that we don't sing lullabies anymore. Please sing lullabies to your child every single night, spread love, and make this world a better one for us all.The future of our planet rests upon . . . you singing lullabies.

A gift for any occasion!
I was given this gift by a friend over 10 years ago. Simply one of my all time favorite-can-play-anywhere-anytime-of-year albums. I have to say I was a bit dim witted when it came to listening to world music. But this was a great introduction to open my senses to what kind of wonderful diverse, ethnic, soulful, whatever you want to call it type music. I've given this as a gift to about 3 or 4 friends. A couple were expecting and the other friends I just wanted to. I cherish this album and I know you and your children will too. The other reviews say enough. Go buy this album and share it with others.

An Enduring Favorite
I purchased this CD about 4 1/2 years ago before my son was born. His nightstand drawer has half a dozen lullaby CDs, which we rotated through when he was still too small make a selection himself. Now a four-year-old, he picks his nightly lullaby CD himself and selects Planet Sleeps (or "the fish CD") more often than any of the others. Other reviewers (a small minority) complain on these pages that the lullabies are too high pitched or too melancholy (minor-keyed), but those wistful tones, played at low volume like a wind in the trees seems to be the perfect music for my son, and his favorite after many years of contented listening.

Achingly beautiful
I bought this CD to play for my newborn during her bedtime routine. Too say the music is beautiful is an understatement. It transports us to another time and space as soon as we hit play, with soothing sounds and a universal message that can be conveyed through language barriers. The CD incorporates music from the Iroquois nation, Cape Breton, Algeria, New Zealand, Chile, Israel, India, Germany, Bosnia, Japan, Haiti, Cambodia, France, Cameroon, and Ireland and it comes complete with background on each country/ethnicity, the story behind the recording and translation of the lyrics. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for music for a nursery, classroom or just soothing meditative quality music for themselves.
