Bought at 53% off the regular Amazon price.
This was bought for my 81 year old mother and she is in love with it!! I have been looking on Kijiji for 2 months for ukuleles for both of us, I finally found a tenor uke for myself, but was not successful at all for my mother to find a tenor ukulele that was being sold at a reasonable second-hand price, the majority were advertised too close to the new price, even without a warranty or any retail support. We were both concerned about the idea of buying a ukulele on amazon, sight unseen, unplayed… so I read reviews here and on the UK amazon site. The reviews relieved us enough to give it a try. Mom's uke arrived 4 days earlier than the initial projected delivery date. It's wonderful, the case is wonderful, and having an extra set of Aquila strings to boot, wow. We both owe this great experience to the amazon shoppers that shared their experiences buying this ukulele. The amazon price was much lower than we would have had to pay in a retail store for a similar quality. The sound on this uke is great! The feel is great. We both think the finish is great and are a little perplexed at some reviews that said the finish seemed… unfinished….. seems to be an example of 'different people like different things'. There was no coppa, unfortunately, but it wasn't promised in the sales write-up. We are thrilled to not have to deal with non-musician, uninformed, rigid Kijiji sellers anymore. We're thrilled to have this beautiful looking and sounding brand new quality instrument with quality gig bag for significantly LESS money than we could find second-hand on Kijiji. Well done, amazon.

worth it for the price
1st the cons.... If you hold it up to the light in certain ways, you can see some slight discrepancies in the finish. But you do have to look for them. For the most part, you will not notice them, so not really a problem. I am being picky. 2nd, the tuners are not as silky smooth as I might like, but well good enough to do the job. Again, being picky. They are perfectly serviceable, and for the price, just fine. 3rd. I'd like the lower bridge to be a little wider, opening the strings a bit. But that would be my preference. Again, picky. It is good enough the way it is. 4th, and the worst thing, is that the nut at the top is a bit high, making the string action too high and then a bit stiff and hard to play. A trip to Harbor Freight for some really fine files and a few minutes filing down the slots fixed that problem. That is called setting up the instrument, and that is not unusual even on an expensive instrument. Is it playable out of the box? Yes it is. I just wanted a bit lower action and the repair was simple enough. Now for the pros: It does look good. Sounds good. the frets seem to be accurately spaced. Some complained that the ends of some of the frets were ragged, but on this instrument, they were nicely tapered, so no complaints there. The fretboard seems to be very flat. No buzzing strings, so that is good. Some complained that there were position marks only on the face of the fretboard, but this one has them on the face as well as the side. Sometimes I feel that some reviews I read are for a different instrument.....Another comment I read was that there was no way to attach a strap on some instruments. But this one came with strap mounts, and even a nicely colored strap. Cool! It comes with an electronic tuner, (which worked much better once I installed the supplied battery.....!) and some spare strings as well as a polishing cloth. And of course, a perfectly serviceable carrying case that has a side handle as well as back straps and a pouch for those strings, a capo if you want one, and spare picks (which it came with). So the bottom line is, that this is a nice inexpensive 26" Ukulele that sounds good enough, plays easily, looks good, and comes with everything you need to keep it in tune and to play it. No directions, though. You need to get some chord charts and tuning charts if you are new to the instrument. Would I buy another one, or recommend it to a friend? Absolutely yes. Just a note, keep the tuner in the case with the ukulele. It will not fit in the accessory pouch.

Nice sound, well crafted
The ukulele has a very nice projected sound. It is light in weight yet very sturdy and well crafted. The bag is really well made with good padding and comes with nice extras. The ukulele is easy and very comfortable to play as the strings are fairly low to the fret board, so it is easier to play for extended times without getting sore fingers.. I ordered 4 of them and each had a slightly different timbre to them.1 was slightly smaller in depth but same length with a warm smoother tone, the other 3 were slightly larger with slightly louder projection and brighter tone ,but each very nice in its own way. The strings take several weeks to settle because of the natural stretching process( normal, just have patience) , but once settled very minor tuning required after that. I am very pleased with my purchase, it is a nice starter ukulele. I paid $50 for each one which I consider a very good deal for what I got ( being a music teacher for 30 years owning many stringed instruments) I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Gorgeous - the padded backpack is all you'll need!
Purchased this Tenor and another smaller ukulele for my two children. First of all, this one is worth it for the well padded backpack alone! (The other one - different brand - came with a cinch-close lightly padded backpack sack). This is a BEAUTIFUL ukulele - the detail is superb. Sounds amazing. Might hold the tuning longer than the smaller uke? My daughter picked this one out (she's 13) and it fits her perfectly. The other smaller one we purchased (from another brand) is of good quality and it suits my 11-yr old son, but the $10 in price difference between the two is too small! This ukulele is worth so much more! If you're going back and forth between a few, get this one - you won't regret it - you'll wonder how they can sell them for this price!
