My lad loves his bot
This is a brilliant idea, my lad loves scratch so I knew this would be a winner, he has lots of fun with it and the more he plays with it the more the bot does, it was easy to set up and we did it all from our phone and my lad has the app on his tablet, the battery is pretty decent on it too lasting at least afew times he plays with it, for the price we paid for it I'd say it's good value for money, you definitely have to have patience at the start because you have to work with it so it does more and you can attach lego to it aswell which doesn't tell you that in the description so that was a nice surprise so you can do even more with it, it's a gift that keeps on giving because you can buy extras for it too, all in all I'd definitely recommend this to anyone thinking of buying for there little one, my lad is 8 and he gets on well with it, I helped him set it up but he doesn't need my help now he plays with it on his own

high brow toy
I received: MatataStudio Coding Robot for Kids Ages 8-12, VinciBot Programmable AI Robot Toy Kit Remote Control Electronic Programming Robot compatible Scratch Python STEM Educational Toy Back to School GiftI picked this up because my 8 year old is very into "Scratch" on the PC. He spends ages making apples move about and fill the screen or has a cartoon cat making high pitched noises. He really enjoyed getting this robot to follow a path and got excited about the idea of attaching Lego to and programming the robot. After a bit of fiddly setting up, it has proven to be quite an inspirational device.

A very nice and comprehensive robot.
The media could not be loaded. It is very nice that it is compatible with the Scratch program. This robot will be very useful when teaching my daughter how to code. The manual explains it very well and in great detail. It can also be controlled and programmed with a remote control. It is definitely a versatile and enjoyable toy. It is a quality and durable robot. I definitely recommend it.

Poor privacy on the app spoils an otherwise great product
We have used and really enjoyed a previous Matatalab product (a coding robot without any app control). This is a step up from that, and is a bit fiddly to set up.Once set up, though, it is great fun to use and a good way for a confident 6 year old to start to learn the basics of Scratch. However, the app is poor, especially for kids. It asks for permission to harvest far too much unnecessary data, and the privacy policy is weak. This is a shame as it spoils an otherwise excellent product.

Doesn't last and no customer service. Very disappointed.
This was fantastic initially. Kids loved it, great introduction to coding and robots. The app however started the issues; the privacy policy never loads, so rather than creating an account we opted to remain as a guest when using it.Then the bot just stopped working. Won't connect to the app, won't work using the remote. We've tried resetting it, tried turning it off and back on, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Nothing works. So we reached out to Matalab asking for help, and we've heard ZERO back from them. Clearly they have better things to do than actually help their customers.Oh, and the cookies they force you to accept when installing the app on a laptop or computer are suspicious to say the least, if you take the time to look at them all.I'd return it, but we are 2 weeks past the return window, so now we're stuck with a useless robot and unhappy kids. I thought this would be perfect for the long term with its options to use a remote, scratch coding, and even to use lego on it. Definitely not worth £90 for just over a month of use. Very disappointed.

Really advanced robot teaching essential computer programming concepts
The world in the 21st century is very digital and teaching the mechanics of this to kids growing up into that world is not only a hard task but also an essential one. Whilst I've started on teaching them Scratch - rather than just seeing things on a screen this contraption takes things that one level further with proper interactive, creative play. It's true that to use this robot, you do need to understand the basics of coding and it's not designed to teach you the basics but to harness your skills and advance them through the creative play. I'd really call this robot a learning through play or an educational gift - but what you get is a really powerful, all singing and dancing bot (quite literally); It has motors to move the device, speakers to play basic and goes to really advanced levels like following a straight line through to speech and colour recognition so it can really grow with your child and perform some cool effects. You get a comprehensive pack of video materials to help get you started with ideas and what not but it's the ability to explore and learn that keep this toy so amazing. The battery of the robot is around 4 hours and it's rechargeable so given there's a fair bit of coding time between iterations of runs this is more than suffice. Highly recommend!
