This is well designed - tent your book, store your eyeglasses under the tent, and a spot for your beverage. I dropped this down a star because the description said high quality wood which it is not. It is plywood and light in weight. In looking at other reviews, mine did not have any issues with splinters, as all the edges were smooth. Keep in mind, this is priced at $15 and at this price point it is still a good value. The design is nice and it is very functional. It is attractive and would make a great gift.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that this product is $15. At $15, it achieves everything advertised. You have the owl design, you have the grommet that can easily support a phone/tablet with a case on it (and I'd like to note that other, more expensive products I've reviewed have only supported ultrathin cases), and you have the cutout for some type of mug or wider cup.My concerns mostly deal with a seeming lack of quality control.The inside of my mug cutout isn't smooth. There are a few rougher patches. I wouldn't say it's bad enough that I'm worried about splinters, but there's uneveness that could interfere with mugs that take up the entire cutout.The dowels connecting everything together don't seem to be lined up correctly. What you see in my other pictures is me lining it up the best I can, squeezing everything together as hard as I feel comfortable doing (as in, I can hear wood starting to crunch and don't want to push harder), and pulling everything apart and realigning it a few different times.At $15, I can't expect perfection. If you're okay with a few things not lining up seamlessly and possibly having to take a little bit of leftover sandpaper to finish smoothing out the cupholder, then it would probably be hard to beat this value.

I'm obsessed with these! I just love these stands for my books so I don't constantly have to be looking for my book mark.

The wood feels like foam…?It comes with 3 pieces to put together, little pegs pop into holes and that’s it.It’s cheap. But it will do what it is designed to do, which is hold my mother’s tablet vertically. The owl is a nice touch, that is the reason we picked it. I do like that you can take it all back apart. I do not think this would hold up a large book. I was thinking maybe she could also use it for a cookbook too? My mind goes to joy of cooking and that is a very large book.It’s prettier than a grey metallic tablet stand in her kitchen, so that’s good!

Super easy to put together, and even easier to use. The little thumb holder thing is a nice added bonus. The image is clear and pretty. Whimsical! I love using it in my book nook for my books or as a tablet holder.
