First time user gives it a try. Some irregularities in the product.
This was my first time to hand cane a chair, so I was a bit anxious, but the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I also found a very good video on YouTube that went through the process step by step.I realize that this is a natural product and not something that it "manufactured". As such, there is going to be some variation. That being said, here are the things I found. Some of the strands were not consistent in width and got very narrow. I just pulled those to the side and did not use them. If necessary, I could have clipped out the narrow part and used the rest. I also found that some of them had numerous joints at what was apparently the leaf nodes. I found that those would pull fine in one direction, but if I tried to pull the other direction, they would hang. So, if I found one that would hang pulling through, I would just take it back out and reverse it. Be aware, that those with the joints sometimes will snap at the joint. The final thing and really the only real negative is the binding cane. I soaked it like the rest, but when binding it down around the edges, it split right down the middle almost the whole length, creating the appearance of two narrow strips parallel to each other. I had no choice but to use it, and it turned out fine, but I had to take extra pains to make sure the two split pieces did not overlap each other. I'd do it all again, but not anytime soon. :) My hands are too sore now.

Reparing back of dinning chair.
Its thicker, wider than I expected . I may be able to split it in half. I just need it to repair a hole.

Chair caning
I bought this material to recane a chair that belonged to my Great Grandmother. Even though it was a first time attempt, it turned out very nicely. The directions were a little less than I needed so I got online and found more. It worked and I was really pleased with the results.

the cane was good
the cane was good and the supplies were helpful but the instructions were crap. The pictures were too dark and the written instructions were confusing at times especially when showing the knots.
