Best first tricycle, my preschooler loves it. Very safe too!
Great tricycle, purchased as Christmas gift for our 2.5 year old (31ish inches tall) and she was able to ride with a little trouble pedaling (she had to learn to point her toes when the pedal was the farthest away from her). Now at 3 and 32 inches tall she can reach just fine and rides this thing all the time. I love that it’s lower to to the ground than other tricycles because although there have been some close calls she has never flipped it over. When she starts to tip over (because she is going fast and turns) she can instinctively put her leg out and touch the floor right away to catch herself before completely flipping over. Some tricycles sit up high and the higher center of gravity can cause kids to tip over and fall off easier, this one is low and allows the child stay balanced and on all three wheels. It is also a beautiful tricycle, definitely a head turner. The back wood deck seems like it more for decoration so I wouldn’t allow any standing on it and I would definitely not leave this outside in rain or too much sun. IMO it adds a little extra appeal and I don’t mind taking extra care of it, keep in mind I only have one toddler so I don’t have to worry about multiple kids climbing on this thing. I do think it could hold the weight of a small child but I would not want to find it weight capacity by letting bigger kids (10+) stand on it. All in all I would definitely recommend this as your preschooler first tricycle and would definitely recommend this as a safer option over other higher sitting tricycles.

Awesome for gravel roads. Really cool even with an 18 m.o. with the help of blocks on pedals... an of a broom to push or pull :)
We purchased the Schwinn Roadster for our then 18 month old (50 percentile in height) son last summer. It was a hit. Of course he needed the blocks on the pedals at that time, and he could reach only with his toes if he was turning, but anyway, we weren't expecting him to pedal on his own. We were using a broom to push him or pull him (with a dog collar attached to the loop on the broom that we would clip on the handle bars). The tricycle was easy to assemble. It was just very very loud (squeeky) so we had to grease the wheels a bit, and then it was perfectly quiet. When we got it out this spring, I realized that I could get rid of the blocks, our toddler was able to reach the pedals without them no problem (although, he`s jumped to the 85th percentile for height over the winter, but is still really skinny - 20th %).2-3 weeks ago, at 2 years and 4 months, he got it. He's pedaling on his own now. On the gravel road. Through puddles and pot holes (and by the way, the shiny mudguard are not only cool looking, they do an excellent job!) it's a joy to see him go. He comes back from daycare on it every night... and all the other little kids and their parents think it's the coolest bike ever. I'm actually ordering this bike for one of them tonight :) We still carry the broom-with-a-dog-collar-attached-to-it with us all the time, just in case our son would need a push... and mostly because pulling the trike with it is the easiest way get it somewhere when our son wants to walk :)

Go Faster, Turn Sharper. Solid Trike. Actually Made with Metal and Rubber...and Not All Plastic
Excellent quality and weight. Now that my daughter is older (3.5 years old) she wants to go faster. And she was just not able to with her classic Radio Flyer tricycle which is lighter in weight and has a higher center of gravity... she complained that she feels like the tricycle will flip over and we did have a few close calls when she did go too fast. So we started to look for a "big wheel" style trike, read tons of reviews and decided on the Schwinn Roadster. We love the price point, sporty retro look but more so, the overall quality and weight of this trike. Compared to other similar trikes, this actually has metal body and rubber tires where most others are completely plastic, even the tires. Daughter loves the bell and streamers and that she can go fast and take sharper turns without worry. However, because the trike is metal, it is heavier and harder to pedal. At first she would tire out rather quickly but as we ride more, she is building up strength and endurance. We received many compliments while riding this trike. Little boys and girls point to it and ask their parents for the same thing. It is a cool little trike! We are very happy with this addition to our fleet and will get many years of use out of this as it gets passed along down the line of children.

Love love love this trike!
This trike totally rocks. Our daughter is 3 and we have 3 trikes. One is a radio flyer folding trike. It was not a great success. Tips very easily and is very slow when she is riding it. It is also now too small. We also have a fisher price rock, roll and ride trike. That one is very good, but we have used it so much the wheel slips when she is peddling and it is all plastic, so you have to be careful going up driveways that are uneven to the road etc etc. After reading the reviews for the schwinn trike I just knew we had to try it. We were going to get her a two wheel bike with training wheels, but they are so heavy and we have a 7 month old baby and we go for hour long walks where she rides. I can put this trike on top of my chariot stroller if she wants to sit. She can fly on this trike, even though it is a bit heavy, but all kids bikes are heavy. Adults comment on how cool it is. All in all this is a great purchase. Just as a note though, she wears a a size 5 in clothes and the seat is the furthest back that it can be. It will be too small next year for sure. So, if your kid is tall, make sure to buy it when they are 2, not 3. Luckily our son will get some good use from it in a year or two!!!
