Airbrushing for Scale Modelers

Any book that sneaks in a reference to Miss Anne Elk's theory of brontosauruses gets a 5 star review from me.It's also a very well done book and informational. I was hoping for more info on selecting an airbrush compressor. The book is kind of light on that subject.

This book contains 127 pages of extremely valuable and interesting information about airbrushing. The focus is on airbrushing plastic model kits such as airplanes, tanks and armored vehicles, but other similar objects are included. The author, Aaron skinner, is obviously very experienced and skilled in this subject. He explains the types of tools and supplies available and the choices required to get started as well as for more advanced techniques. Every aspect of the processes are explained and illustrated. For the more basic information, instead of captioning every photogrph he labels each photograph with a number and in the narrative at the bottom of the page or beneath each photo the photograph number appears in bold type so it'd easy to associate the narrative with the photograph. For the more specific projects/techniques he captions each photograph with details illustrated in the photograph. His narratives are very concise and specific about the the details that appear in the photograph.I'm very impressed with this publication and definitely recommend it to anyone interested in the subject and particularly anyone intending to pursue the use of airbrushes as a hobby or an enterprise. I've acquired most of what I need to get started and this book will be nearby for a long time to come.

Many times Fine Scale publishes books that are composed of previously published articles. This appears to be all new. The book is divided into 2 parts. The first five chapters are basic general information. How an airbrush works, what features they have, Different types of paint and the thinners to be used. How to use it. How to troubleshoot and repair. And most importantly, masking.It very carefully explains the relationship of paint viscosity, air pressure, and distance to subject. A very important consideration.The second part has 14 projects that Aaron walks you through. From simple single color schemes to much more complicated masking jobs. The 14 projects include armor and aircraft, 1 car, 1 ship and 1 large scale figure.Anyone considering purchasing an airbrush should spend time with this book. This book is good for the novice and intermediate air brusher / modeler. I think that most advanced air brushers would get little from this book. They should know it already. I hadn't built a model in 50 years when my granddaughter gave me a model truck kit for Christmas. I couldn't afford an airbrush as a boy, but I decided to get one now. This book has good text and good pictures, and the author knows what he's doing. It's been a big help.

One of my hobbies is working on plastic models. This is a good book for painting models.

Book arrived quickly and in great condition.

Book is a cornucopia of knowledge pertaining to all things airbrushing. A must buy for those new to airbrushing or even seasoned users looking to "up" their game. Only drawback is the seller listed item as new. Received a copy with dog-eared pages and a TON of highlighted and underlined references from the previous "owner" who listed it as brand new. Book is great-seller wasn't.

Last time I touched an airbrush I used propellant and was over 30 year’s ago and recently I hot for a present an airplane model so I wanted to get back into things and got me an air brush and compressor to get back into things. I order this book and it’s amazing with detail instructions on just about everything that you can do with a brush.
