Q: I have slides from 1959 that are 2 3/4 inches square. Nothing seems to fit so that I can sort through them. Anyone find anything?

You don't necessarily have to have a slide sorter. You just need a lightboard. You can get those for $16 on Amazon. Artists use them for tracing. I used one to go through my father's old slides. It doesn't have the ridges but you can maneuver the slides around easily.

Q: How well does it work for 35mm negatives?

it worked ok for those too. a good magnifying glass helps with both slides and negs. I was just going for a quick overview to weed out obvious defects. I scanned everything else at costco. they did a good job for little money. Sales price is $12.99 for 62 slides. negs are even less but you have to scan all four in a strip. I think it was 29 cents each strip of four negs. Once you get the files on your computer you can really go at it!
