Works on Linux - Tested working on Fedora Workstation 36 w/ Chrome 103.0.5060.53
About the product:Works on USG-issued PIV card. The tuck-away USB cable is both my most favorite and least favorite feature. It's nice that it folds away but I'm concerned that it will wear out from being flexed back and forth during normal use. The compact size and slim form factor make it easy to slip into a laptop bag. Overall, I'm satisfied with the product considering it's low price.Technical details:Tested working on Fedora Workstation 36 running the standard GNOME desktop environment w/ Chrome 103.0.5060.53There are multiple Chrome Apps/Extensions that claim to work with smart cards. The exact one I used is called "Smart Card Connector" with extension ID "khpfeaanjngmcnplbdlpegiifgpfgdco". (You have to look it up yourself, external URLs are not allowed in Amazon reviews)Even though "Smart Card Connector" installs via the Google Chrome store, it's actually a standalone application and not an extension that runs within Chrome. To activate the smart card reader:- Close all Chrome windows- Connect card reader- Run: Applications > Chrome Apps > Smart Card Connector- Click Add Reader- Select the card reader from the listThe card reader will remain active for the remainder of the GNOME session or until the card reader is removed, at which point the steps above must be repeated.* The Smart Card Connector app will display a warning that it is only intended to be run on ChromeOS, and the card reader will show an error once added. These can be safely ignored, the card reader will work fine.

Awesome cac- make sure to install the driver and the certs
I purchased this cac reader last year. It worked great immediately, super easy to use on my MacBook Air. Then after about 6 months of using it the reader stopped working… I couldn’t figure it out and I knew it had a warranty so I went to the manufacturer’s website and talked to a couple of friends. Then figured out i needed to install the driver. In addition I needed to go through the steps on militarycac.com to make sure it would work properly on my Mac. After that, no problems whatsoever. It also looks super clean and minimal, love that.I’ve used this CAC reader for about a year and a half,- now even with the correct certs and driver installed my max is unable to read my CAC. It recognizes the cac reader but not the CAC itself. It had a nice run but I need to look for something new now

Plug-n-Play, Compact, and Ready to Go Out the Box
For years I have been using my trusty old Identiv SCR CAC card reader. After finally giving up on me the other day I decided to try and find something that is more compact and did not have a ten foot USB cable (a bit of exaggeration, of course). This reader has been an awesome replacement! Worked right out of the box without needing any drivers and super compact. Simple white LED indicators to show power and if it sees the CAC card.Definitely give it a try!

Looks Great....Broke in 2 Weeks
The reader is small and looks great but broke with less than 5 hours of use. The best I can figure is the cable has an internal break. While I had an issue with the CAC reader, the company was quick to reach out and issue a refund.

One month in and already broken
I've used it for less than a month and its already broken. Anytime the reader is bumped even lightly my VPN disconnects.
