Inexpensive bulk shade cloth that functions well
I purchased this cloth to cover gardens that are usually exposed to brutal summer Sunlight. The 20 foot width works perfectly for most cases, as the gardens and canopies I'm covering are roughly 20 feet long.Normal scissors work fine for cutting it, but make sure you're doing it in an area you can easily sweep or vacuum because cutting it causes small black bits of the fabric to drop everywhere. If you're laying it out for cutting outside, weighing it down with some rocks helps fight the wind. After cutting to size, I used a propane torch on its coolest setting to BRIEFLY singe the edge so it wouldn't come apart. Obviously, if you choose to do this, do it over concrete, or an area that won't catch fire. I quickly passed the torch near the edge only until I saw it start to melt - this was just to keep it from possibly unraveling around the edges in the future. A slight singe every couple feet would probably suffice. If you apply too much heat it will shrivel and pull back, as plastic does. Again, do this at your own risk, outside, and avoid the fumes. The factory edges of the cloth are nicely melded so it won't unravel. The cloth catches the wind easily, and sags somewhat when it rains, but it does let the rain through, and stops sagging when it dries. As long as you use enough clips to hold it (I used one about every 2 feet), it doesn't seem like it will rip. Give it more support than you think it will need because it does seem to sag, especially if you're covering a large area. I had to put a post in the center of my garden for extra support, and I ran ropes in an "X" shape underneath the cloth. I flipped a plastic bowl upside own and placed it on top of the post under the cloth to prevent the edges of the square post from stretching holes in the fabric over time.I've only had the cloth up for about a week, but it's working great, and providing my garden with the shade it needs.

Limited Use
I bought this to cover plants in the heat of the day. I thought I would cut it into smaller pieces so that I could cover several areas. Not ideal for that, the edges curl under the heat. It does work well, but must be cut much wider for the curling.

Nice shade cloth
Love this shade. Just the right amount of shade when putting my plants out from the greenhouse . Seems like I e it will last a long time. Went thru a severe thunderstorm and my plants were safe. Very true to size.

Edges curl and don’t flatten back out.
I cut this cloth in a couple of pieces to fit over raised planters. The edges really curled up and I had to tack them down in order to cover the plants.

Durable shade
Works great with cable ties to fasten where you need it rather than grommets. Has not ripped in wind after a month of use.
