Q: What is the inside dimensions of the drawers?

The top compartment is 20" L x 8.25" W x 4" H. The other 3 compartments are 17.5" L x 7.5" W x 1.5" H.

Q: What’s the width with the top open?

20 1/8" not the size in the description at the top of the page.. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page it has the correct dimensions.... gave it a low rating due to this... drawers also get pinched if you don't grab drawer exactly in the middle, it will hang up... drawer slides cheap and flimsy.. hope this helps

Q: There are 2 different descriptions of this tool box here, 1 is 20x9x12 and the other is 23x11x14. So which is it?

It is exactly 20-9/16w by 12-1/8h by 8-3/4 deep, as I reported in my review. The larger size sometimes stated is probably the size of the shipping box, which does nobody any good. I had to send mine back because of this misrepresentation.
