Best value iPhone housing.
Well constructed, durable, and easy to use with the software that goes along with the iPhone. Love it.

If you want to have photos of your dive, buy something else.
I had really high hopes for this phone housing. The set-up was a little clunky with the current version of iOS. Once everything was configured it seemed to be fine. During initial trial-run, the camera overheated rather quickly. I chalked that up to the fact that I was using it at the surface, not underwater. Went on my first two dives this morning. About 3 minutes into my first dive (lasted 60 minutes), the app crashed and my phone was just displaying the home screen. As a result, I missed getting photos of the dozens of nurse sharks swimming around us. After that I figured that I was meant to just swim around and enjoy the dive without photos. On the 2nd dive, the system stayed with me for a little longer. About 20 minutes in, the app locked up while I was changing from video to photo mode. Again, I tucked the camera into my BCD's pocket and continued to enjoy the dive, without photos. I was really disappointed with the overall functionality of the system. On the plus side, the build quality is really sturdy. Looking forward I will buy an underwater case for one of my other cameras. I will not be using this housing ever again.

Great tool for uw photography
I greatly appreciate the peace of mind from the step by step instructions for sealing the housing, and for the vacuum seal. I’ve flooded previous cameras before because I was rushing and didn’t thoroughly check the seals, so I was glad this helps prevents that by slowing me down.Having the capability to shoot in raw is a huge plus, as when diving without strobes it’s extremely helpful to bring the proper colors back into a scene, especially when down a bit deeper. I like that theres also an exposure compensation that you can change while diving, as when diving in kelp I normally want to under expose to help keep highlights from being blown out, but also find times where I’m looking into crevices I want to bring up the exposure. The other nice feature is being able to zoom while the phone is in the housing. I’ve often been switching between the .5 and 1x zooms depending on how skittish subjects are.As a bonus I love that it acts as a back up computer, and you can check your logged dives on the app afterwards. It’s also great to be able to quickly check your current dive settings while using the housing to give an easy reference but still be able to focus on whatever you’re photographing. All in all I have really enjoyed the housing so far, and am happy that it can fit multiple versions of iphone, so both my wife and I can use it without having to buy two different housings.

Robust, but not worth the money and hassle
I am a big fan of the Oceanic program for the Apple Watch ultra, and have used it hundreds of times without problems - clear display, logical organization, better than most stand alone dive computers. This case for smartphones combines that excellent computer with a waterproof case. The iPhone camera is superior to most single piece dive cameras, but the case is enormously bulky. I understand that the priority was ruggedness - who wants to brick a $1500 iPhone at 100 feet down - but not sure the added bulk is worth while. Worst of all, the dive compter crashed on every other dive (of the 15 I used it on), which makes the camera and dive computer inoperative. Of course I still had my Ultra for back up so did not need to surface, but this is remarkably frustrating. It is possible that subsequent firmware/software improvements have improved this crash problem. I will find out soon, but it is always a good idea to dive with two dive computers so you have a plan B for repetitive dives within the 24 hour time for gas equalization.

way more than i expected
Pretty cool way to take videos while snorkeling or diving. The automatic color-correction feature just works, making shots look brilliant. . It's user-friendly and the instructions are good. I am a diver too and plan to use it when I go next. The vacuum pump and leak detector is unique and comforting.I've been in the water a few times, and it has not disappointed. The build quality is top-notch, and the app is the big winner. Switching between photo and video underwater is simple, and the battery life is impressive. The housing is a dream and the integrated depth and temperature sensors provide valuable data for each dive.I've used many dive housings before, but this one is something else. I’ve had several smartphone housings, and most are basic cases. When I first saw this, I thought “another housing, who cares” but I am stunned by the features of this thing. I’m rarely surprised by dive products but this one is really unique and useful. This has exceeded my expectations, not easy for dive and snorkel products. This thing simplified my recording process, and the ergonomics of the handle is a bonus.

Great hardware, awful software
Software is still too buggy to have been released. The hardware is very well designed but with the case it will add significant weight to your luggage. I was very happy with the picture quality and color correction, but the software crashes more often than not. I tried turning off all the extra features like real time color correction and the dive computer features. hoping it would be more stable, but that didn't help. The final straw was when the software froze during the phone insertion procedure. I had to take it back out and reboot my iPhone and start over. If my dive group wasn't waiting for me it would have been a minor inconvenience, but 5 other divers were annoyed by this.By the time you read this the issues may be fixed, but I'd recommend doing what I did and buy it just before your dive trip so that the Amazon return window doesn't close before you get back.
