MCMConcepts 2000mAh Square Battery Replacement for iPod Video/Classic Thin 5th-7th Gen

I installed this upgraded battery in my iPod 5.5th Gen (30GB model) about a week ago, and I’m honestly blown away by the results.Installation was pretty easy if you’ve opened one of these iPods before — the battery fit fine, and everything closed up clean with no issues. No bulging, no loose parts, just a solid fit.The performance has been excellent. Since installing the new battery, I haven’t run out of charge once. I’ve used the iPod for hours at a time — mostly during walks and while working — and the battery just keeps going. I’ve barely even thought about charging it. Just syncing songs on the computer over the past few days has been enough to keep the battery topped up.This one simple upgrade brought my iPod back to life. It feels dependable again, like when it was brand new. If you’re still using a classic iPod and want to keep it going strong, this battery mod is 100% worth it. Highly recommended.

Fantastic replacement. Cable is the original size but because the battery is larger, it ends up being too long. Pretty easy fix for anyone who has ever worked in a device, just fold part of the long cable over onto itself, and give it a loose crease. Do not crease it hard or you likely will break the internal copper traces in the ribbon.I also used some double sided adhesive to get it to stick better where the only battery was.Fit perfectly with a thin 7th Gen using an imcort dual micro SD adapter for the drive replacement. I got over 60 hours of continuous music playback before it finally gave up (I had to go to bed so not sure on the exact, but I sent to bed with 8% left at the 60 hour mark)Works perfectly, and seems to hold a charge pretty well. Just don't trust the percentage in rockbox, it's rarely accurate and it's more an estimate

Big improvement over stock

The media could not be loaded. The battery I received was not the same as in the photo and description. Very similar but a completely different battery. The cable was in a different spot which meant it was too long or and required me to bend it awkwardly to close. Only recommend if you are comfortable with that, otherwise it works fine, it’s a big battery so it’ll last a few days on a full charge.

Fit my iPod 7th gen thin perfectly with the quad flash.

I haven't installed yet, but it look pretty solid, the size its just fine for the iPod classic. And it came in a small box.

This battery was used to replace a battery in an older ipod 5th mod. I used it in conjunction with an iflash solo board. Fantastic fit! Battery was easy to replace. Capacity is large but not the largest size that can be purchased for these types of replacements. These square batteries function well with the iflash solo boards. The larger capacity rectangular batteries require the smaller quad boards. I utilized a small bit of double sided tape to secure the battery to the case. This 2000mah battery gave me about 40 hours of playback give or take. There can bit a large amount of variability in the quality of these type of batteries. Sometimes they are older and sold as new. I have however, had good results from MCM Concepts products though and my next mod project will use one of these. Lithium batteries of this type are usually shipped separately if bought with a board. I am confident enough in this battery to use it on my wife's ipod where a failure would land me a segment on a true crime podcast and this review used as evidence at her trial.

**Background:** I've got a decent collection of iPods most of them are fifth generation. I modded a lot of them with ifash-Quad. Previously, I've used batteries that were designed for the original hard drive.**Build Quality:** not too much to say on the bill quality. It looks like a little lithium battery. The ribbon cable is decent.** Install:** so I prefer this flat design so much more than the original. The reason is the original battery sits right on top of the ribbon cable for the hold switch toggle switch. When you have the battery in this spot and you have to replace it, you have to very delicately pull off the battery otherwise risk damaging the that hold switch ribbon cable.I actually tore one while doing this review. Luckily I have another iPod that has a dead battery then I learned from my mistake I was able to get it off. So instead of sitting in that precarious location, this flat battery can sit right on top ofthe iflash-quad. I'm glad I did it too because that other battery was swelling and not looking good. I think because the battery is flat and you can put it in a better location I would say the install is easier than installing another factory type battery.**Function:** so this battery is 2000 mAh my original battery was 850 mAh. That's more than double with a better form factor.I think the value in this it's a much larger capacity and the much better form factor if you're making the mod to the iflash-Quad. Note, this battery probably will not fit if you're using the original hard drive.
