A MUCH NEEDED guide for business adapting during Covid and beyond

Business Model Shifts is a much-needed guide for business adapting in Covid and post-Covid(hopefully soon) times. The shifting needs of customers demand an elastic yet “feet on the ground” approach.I found the book valuable as a guide - full of relevant stories of how people have successfully made the shift. The authors walk you through how your company can as well by among other things, making a mental shift in seeing people’s needs as more service-oriented even when you have thought of yourself as producing traditional goods. This was a particularly clever insight, my favorite of many and especially valuable for my company.Thank you for an extremely valuable hand guide to adapting during Covid and beyond!

Understand why change and shifting your business model is important and how to do it correctly.

We live in a world where change is always happening. New technologies are produced, new systems are created, human expectations change, resources become scarce… So how a business can deal with all of this? The answer is by shifting their business model to fit the new changes and deliver respected customer service.A business model shift can be defined as a deliberate and systematic move towards more relevance and value for customers, and as a result growth of your organization. Business model shift can reflect bold moves into wholly new business models. But, more often shifts start as small moves inside an existing business model that evolve into entirely new ways of creating value and relevance.Business model shifts have been undertaken by all types of organizations in many industries. And, in every case, those business model shifts were undeniably designed by the organization to deliberately create, deliver and capture new value. We have used the Business Model Canvas, first revealed in BUSINESS MODEL GENERATION, by Alexander Osterwalder and Yvs Pigneur, in many strategic planning sessions. The canvas allows for a high degree of interactive participation and is accessible to many levels within a company.In BUSINESS MODEL SHIFTS, you get numerous case studies that examine how to make a substantial business shift in six areas.1. Moving from product to service2. Shareholder to stakeholder3. Digital shift to being more connected with customers and their needs4. Pipeline to platform5. Exponential growth, 10X6. Circular, restorative, sustainableThe books features detailed examples for each of these business model shifts. There is a large case study, medium-sized cases and two-page short case studies.Two flaws mar most business books. The first is that the authors tell you the "what" and ignore the "how." The second is that these books focus on and draw examples from Fortune 100 world-wide brands, not helpful if you are an entrepreneur.BUSINESS MODEL SHIFTS delivers in both respects. The book is one huge "how" and there are plenty of case studies that focus on small to medium-sized emerging companies.
